Patrick S. Gilmore Award:  The most prestigious award for middle school band students, this award is named after legendary bandmaster and impresario Patrick S. Gilmore (1829-1892). Established by the Instrumentalist Company in 1994, this nationally recognized award honors outstanding contributions to the band program. It will be awarded to the most outstanding member of the CLMS Falcon Bands.

Woody Herman Jazz Award:  This award, which was created in 1988 by the Instrumentalist Company to honor the legendary jazz clarinetist Woody Herman (1913-1987), recognizes outstanding contributions to the jazz ensemble. It is presented to the most outstanding student member of the jazz ensemble.

Quincy Jones Musicianship Award: Honoring the prolific and varied career of composer, arranger, performer, producer and teacher Quincy Jones (b. 1933), this award honors outstanding students for their creativity and musicianship. It is awarded to one student in either band or chorus.

Leonard Bernstein Musicianship Award:  In his long career, Leonard Bernstein (1918-90) made an indelible mark on the musical world as a conductor, composer and teacher. This award will honor students whose musical contributions, dedication, and creativity set them apart. It is awarded to one band and one choral student.

Fred Waring Director’s Award for Chorus: The most prestigious award for middle school choral students. Established by the Instrumentalist Company, this nationally recognized award honors outstanding contributions to the choral program. Named for popular musician, bandleader and radio-television personality Fred Waring (1900-1984), who was known as “the Man Who Taught America To Sing”, this award will be presented to the most outstanding member of the CLMS Falcon Singers.
